Cartwheel: A Great New Way to Save Money at Target!

A New Way to Save at Target

Do any of you like to shop at Target or Super Target like I do? Have you heard about Target’s new way to save using it’s new Facebook app, Cartwheel? If you’re still in the dark about this money-saving shopping strategy, then let me introduce it to you. I think you’re going to love it!

Cartwheel

Cartwheel is Target’s all-new technology-related way to save money when you shop in-store. All you  need is a Facebook account, a computer and printer, or a mobile device such as a smart phone or tablet computer!

Login and Start Saving

To get started simply head on over to Target’s Cartwheel home page, login using your Facebook username, and start saving!

login screen

Once you login, Cartwheel will show you all kinds of ways to save. You can use the “Search” bar to look for specific deals matching items on your shopping list, browse the deal offers using the “Browse” button and selecting a category, or  click on the “Collections” button to see the offers by special groupings. The deal offers show up as cards. When you click on them, they flip over and you have the option to read the details about the offer or add the offer to your personal “Cartwheel.”

Badges

You’ll start out with only 10 saving slots available to fill, but don’t worry! Target created ways for you to earn more slots by earning “Badges.” If you click on the “Badges” button at the top of the screen you will see locked cards. Click on those cards to learn about the tasks you need to complete to earn more slots and be able to redeem more offers! For example, you can earn the “Star Collector” badge for claiming a deal from the “Collections” offered by Target. Or, you can earn the “Shopping Buddy” badge when you choose to allow Cartwheel activity to show up in your news feed on Facebook and a friend signs up for Cartwheel as a result.

Offer Details

The deals you select to fill your offer slots remain in your personal Cartwheel until they are expired or removed by you. Here’s what you need to know about the offers:

  • To redeem your deals, either use your smart phone (or other mobile device) at checkout, or print your deals. When you print your deals, instead of lots of separate coupons, you’ll have 1-2 pages listing all of the items in your Cartwheel and one barcode for you to have scanned at checkout. I think this beats cutting coupons any day!
  • You can use the deal up to 6 times per day until the offer is expired or you remove it from your Cartwheel.
  • You can combine the Cartwheel offer with a manufacturer coupon, a Target coupon, and the 5% discount you receive when you use your Target Red Card.
  • The offer is redeemed after the Target coupons and before the manufacturer coupons.
  • You can use the same offer up to 4 times per transaction.

Other Things to Know

Just like Facebook, you’ll be able to see what your friends are doing with Cartwheel. On the deal offer cards the names and profile pictures of your friends also claiming deals are listed. You have the ability to see your friends’ Cartwheels. If you’d rather not share as much information with others, you can change your privacy settings at the bottom of the home page.

Additionally, you’ll see a box at the side of your Cartwheel picturing all the Facebook Friends you have also using Cartwheel. And, you’ll receive notifications at the top of your screen showing your recent Cartwheel activity.

Even though Cartwheel is still in Beta, I think it has a lot of potential. I’m planning to make good use of it especially since Super Target is my store of choice. It makes sense to take advantage of great ways to save money! Go ahead! Sign up and get started saving, too!!

Thanks for sharing. I kept seeing people post about cartwheel on my deal sites, but it seemed that it was only available to people with smart phones. So glad I found out that I can print it off. I used this feature today. It gave me just a small amount off in addition to my other Target coupons and redcard. I ended up saving $39 dollars in coupons, cartwheel, redcard today!

I’ve had some trouble with the register freezing after all my groceries were scanned, bagged, and in my cart already. I had to have everything scanned multiple times. According to Target, they are working to fix this problem. In the meantime, the cashier should scan ALL the coupons first and scan Cartwheel last. Although Target says this will prevent the register from freezing, I guess it may also mean you aren’t getting quite as good of a deal as if they scanned it the other way around. Just a heads up anyway…
